When the idea of a farmer's elevator developed in the early 1900's, 90 shareholders with $8,000 in stock formed and incorporated the Farmers Elevator Company. Members of the initial board of directors purchased their first elevator from O.A. Means and Company in 1906 and Cooksville Grain Company was born. Located in Illinois' heartland, the company has been serving the needs of its patrons for over a hundred years. During that time, the original elevator has grown into a fully automated, single location facility that handles 4 million bushels of grain annually with a storage capacity of roughly 3.5 million bushels. With five dump pits that have the capacity to receive 60,000 bushels of grain per hour and three Zimmerman dryers, Cooksville Grain offers patrons fast turn-around times to get them back in the field in a timely manner. Add to that competitive rates and an experienced staff, patrons can count on an exceptional customer experience.
